I have just compiled the 2.1.4 version of xfig after making a couple of changes.

The first set of changes were removal of references to signal SIGBUS in some of
the error handling routines as this signal is not known to GCC2.11b. Is this a
harmless change?

The other set of changes related to the call "cfree" which used to be the call to
release memory allocated by "calloc". According to the comments in the relevant
.h file the call "free" is now appropriate for memory allocated by "alloc" AND
"calloc" and I, therefore, changed these calls from "cfree" to "free". Perhaps a

#define cfree free

statement could be added the appropriate *.h file where free is defined to
circumvent this problem in other programs that use "cfree".

PROBLEMS

When I try to run xfig all goes well until it is time to label the various
buttons on the display at which time the whole shooting match freezes and I have
to reboot. Has any one else tried to run xfig? Have they had a similar problem?
Can they tell me what I've forgotten to do or missed in the instructions?
