Introduction and a request for a git workshop

Hi LUG members! I live in the UK and I am member of a local LUG in the North East of England. I travel to KC regularly and look forward to attending one of your meetings in the future. Our company have a small team of developers in the UK, Poland and KC. We have started using git recently and it works very well for our distributed teams. We are actually using the CodebaseHQ service, of which git is a component. We have four or five junior programmers in our KC office who would like a half day workshop on git. Can you recommend somebody who can run something like this for us? Thanks, Ross Cooney

Hello friends and neighbors it is your friendly social director again. I wanted to take this time out to thank everyone who helped, attended and participated in our after party as well as coming out to support and attend Maker Faire. Our space would not be much of a space without people like you. I am not only proud to be a CCCKC and Hammer Space member, but proud to call you my friends. Thank you all for the support! And on a side not ... Luis, while running an event like this there are always bound to be little bumps you did an awesome job and I think you embodied the CCCKC Mission. I feel I can speak for most when I say if it wasn't for your assistance this probably would not have happened. I want to also thank Joel, Sharon, Alyssa, Jestin, Bryce and Phillip (sorry if I missed anyone) for their work and dedication to power wheels. One last shout out to Josh "The killer" Bookout for throwing together a bot for my Suminons (Sumo-minions) to fight and to Mike for giving us the idea to hack the Kinect at the fair :). If I missed anyone please, know that you too helped and are most certainly appreciated.

**** MAKER FAIRE GET TOGETHER ****

Welcome friends, it is your friendly neighborhood social director from C3KC. As you're undoubtedly aware KC area Maker Faire is coming this week and as only official Hacker Space of the KC metro area we'd like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who monitors this list to both attend the event ( http://www.makerfairekc.com/) as well as coming down to the space after for a maker get-together. There will be Hacker Spaces coming from all around to attend the faire and camp out in the CCCKC / Hammer Space parking lot. The caveat for this get together is everyone needs to bring something. We don't care what it is as long as it's on the list ;) - Soda (12 pack) any kind - Other beverages - Snacks or Food Items - Plasticware - Plates - Bowls - Napkins Please remember when you bring an item, you can leave Friday night in the kitchen area or if you're not a member bring it with you Saturday. Just got the distribution upgrade notice in Update Manager today. All download files are available now. I usually download one of the installation CDs or DVDs instead of upgrading online. I use this mirror: http://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu-iso/CDs-Ubuntu/precise/ (Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago, IL) I managed to get the whole 64-bit trial version CD before I could finish pulling together this announcement, getting about 90% my full capability, up to 1.3 MB/sec over 12 mb/sec vdsl. Don't forget to use bit torrent if your subscription's monthly data quota isn't capped. i.e., AT&T Uverse and AT&T DSL. Download also available , probably really slow for now (if a connection can even be made), at: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ Main web site provides download links to many more download options http://www.ubuntu.com/

Multi-list message: Can CCCKC help out KCLUG with a presence at Maker Faire? I know there were plans to make and give out CDs of software. Maybe we could bring both groups together to help with the software side of the CCCKC booth or somehing?
