Used Systems Wanted

Looking for 2 - 3 used office-grade machines, pre-2ghz DDR400 or less specs. Don't need good audio or video, these will be "servers"; drives and RAM don't matter as I'll be installing my own. I like SFF boxes, but don't like the lack of expansion. If you have a couple last-generation systems kicking around, let me know.

Summary for those not having heard of this yet- CdC has made a seemingly "Back Orfice" level tool for Google's website deep scanning potential I am curious how much is hype and what is real? Yes, technically it's still a winap only , but their source is claimed to be open. Anything that can expose holes is a Very Good Thing. The Noob offering a bribe for help

I have been playing with Fedora 8, still being the lin-noob here I have two things that I haven't been able to figure out. I would like to set up raid and configure it for my machine, I am using the m2n-sli deluxe board on a custom machine and use it as a media server for the house. Preemptively, yes they are better systems for this, and Fedora not set in stone an anybody welcomed to change my mind. However back to the issue I would like to have both Linux and M$ be able to read and write from the media-server. while I know the group meets regularly, I am unable to make any of the meetings due to other commitments. So I throw out the offer if anybody wish to crash my house on a Saturday evening and show me what i have been doing wrong, I'll throw up some Pizza and Beer, or any other drink that may be desirable. Also if anybody is interested and has rug rats to deal with. My wife wouldn't mind watching them for a couple of hours, the house has been kid tested and the walls have already been drawn on

I've heard of this problem before from Comcast users. You're not getting an internet connection, you're getting manged, filtered services. Which server are you trying to relay out through? It has looked to me like they won't let you use any outbound mail server except theirs, no matter what port you try. (I suppose encrypted traffic to an unusual port might get through, but I'm surprised they allow ssh.)

Find the relayhost directive. Set that to your ISP's outgoing SMTP server. Postfix will then send all outgoing mail through your ISP, instead of trying to deliver it directly. However, since Comcast is far from a *normal* ISP... 1. You will need to have Postfix send out on port 587. Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf: relayhost = [smtp.comcast.net]:587 2. Hi all, I've been a long time lurker and need a shove in the right direction. I've been getting my email on Ubuntu box for a while, Fetch gets the mail and postfix sends it out, Recently Comcast has been forcing me to use the 587 port for sending mail. and I'm at a loss on how to get it to work in postfix. I can't even send mail to a 3rd part mailhost, so they have locked me out of port 25. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it and can point me in the correct direction, this has been driving me crazy. Thanks!! Chuck Keeter

Intel D845EBT mobo RAM issues

Any have experience upgrading mobos with i845 chipsets? I've got a 2002 vintage D845EBT mobo based system that is in desperate need of RAM. They put Vista on it with only the original 512MB RAM and it and suddenly it got dog slow. We all know why. So, I put a 1GB Buffalo Select DIMM in for 1.5GB RAM. It sped up very well, but it started having random crashes. I diagnosed it to a problem with the 1GB module, though I couldn't replicate the RAM errors with memtest86+ in a spare system, only the original one. Today I took the module back to MicroCenter to do a defective part swap. Got the new 1GB DIMM in the system and it won't even pass POST, just gives beep codes. Before I get more time wasted on this and more gas to MC and back, etc., does anyone know if the Intel made i845 boards have been having issues with 1GB DIMMs? I've had 512MB DIMMs in it and it seemed ok, and the original is a 512MB anyway. I think I can let them live with 1GB (as 2x512) under Vista, but more is always better. From my research so far, Intel certified 512MB DIMMs and claims the 1GB *might* work... I think I'm finding otherwise. I'll have to give this new DIMM a run in the spare system and hope it's just a fluke of two bad DIMMs in a row. Jon.
