I cannot agree with you on this statement. It's about time for a distribution to be available that would work for the corporate environment. There are many admins wanting to use a Linux Distribution because of the stability, but cannot because there is not a distribution available that has the product, technical, or corporate support. There are so many other distributions available that do not and will not care about the "BOTTOM" technical skilled user, that for one company to do this will not effect you. Speakers wanted

Hi, I'm looking for speakers for the Kansas State University Local Users Group (http://k-slug.org/). We're a student and staff oriented group with a fairly knowledgeable Linux user base, but we're looking to expand membership and our hope is for many more novice users come fall. We'd like expand our speakers roster in the coming year, so we're looking for speakers related to Linux and open source technologies. Preferably speakers are the people who made the tools they're presenting, but previous talks have been done by advanced users with great success. If your company is looking to hire new students, giving a talk is probably a good way to pick up interested and talented individuals (and get out of the office for a bit! ^_^). All, Starting this month will be the first official meeting of the Kansas City Asterisk User Group (http://www.kcaug.net). The location of the meeting will be at the Daily Dose Bar & Coffee House, in Overland Park. Meetings will be held on the last Sunday of every month (the 27th for this month) at 2pm. Backups in a mixed environment

My wife just lost a big chunk of a document she was working on on her Windows machine. She wouldn't have lost it, however, if I'd rigged her box to do a nightly backup to a CVS server or something of the sort on my Ubuntu box. I'm going to setup something like that now, but I'd like your suggestions on just precisely what to use on each end. Server side requirements: 1: Minimal upkeep 2: Backed up files accessible without much hassle on the server side Client side requirements: 1: Easy enough to use if my wife wants to make an unscheduled backup or change the directories/files being tracked 2: Easily scheduled Ideally: 1: The client side software should also exist or have functional counterparts available for Linux and Mac OSX 2: The client side automation should run through Scheduled Tasks/run like a cron job, so that she doesn't have to have yet another permanently memory-resident application in her toolbar. 3: The server shouldn't require more than one or two open ports 4: The network traffic should be encrypted, so that if I chose to do remote backups, I wouldn't have to mess with tunneling. Any suggestions? PS: already pointed out Leapord's Time Machine, and got shot down. No new Macs for us poor folk. Might give http://www.mogware.com/FileHamster/ProductTour/ a shot, though, if I can't find a reasonable OSS networked solution. Thanks, Sean

I am convinced that SCO and their associates are picked for sheer churlishness above any other quality. http://wifinetnews.com/archives/007571.html Do note that some of the "logic" used is rather incoherent at best. Ah well, at least they are not _yet_ overtly dragging Linux into it. Nonetheless, the perceived linkage is almost as bad in social affect.
